The Wiki of a Teenage Robot

There's No Place Like Home School is episode 27b of season 3 of My Life as a Teenage Robot. It first aired on Nickelodeon in the United States on October 4, 2008.

Jenny winds up getting home schooled by Dr. Wakeman due to her bad behavior at school. Jenny may not like it, but her mother enjoys the chance to teach her daughter... perhaps too much.

During the first day of school, Jenny feels excited during the first day of school, despite Brad's warnings on the matter. Two months later, Jenny gets fed up with school, particularly due to Pop Quiz tests, PE lessons in which she rusts in the rain, taking turns to use the bathroom and having to walk all the way past snowstorms. After she unwittingly hurts a bully whom pulled a prank on her, Vice-Principal Razinski calls Mrs. Wakeman, informing that Jenny will face a three-day suspension, followed by expulsion if Jenny shows no change in her attitude. However, the idea instead pleases Jenny, especially as her mother introduces the idea of home school to Jenny, which she accepts, much to Sheldon's chagrin.

The next day, Dr. Wakeman calls her up for home school, and Jenny attends, but either prefers hanging on phone calls or sleeping during lectures. When her mother gives her a pop quiz, Jenny doesn't know how to answer it, resulting in her getting an 'F' grade, and forcing her to cancel her night out with Brad at Mezmer's, stating 'she had homework to do'. She sneaks into her mother's office and installs a mini broadcast antenna in her mom's computer, so she can get test answers via wireless transmission every time she lifts the finger. The plan backfires the following day when her mother activates a second radio, the fraud is discovered, and Jenny is forced to listen to Mrs. Wakeman's unending lecture (Which always starts with "It all began with a HUGE explosion!").

When the test comes and Jenny attempts to take a break, Mrs. Wakeman intervenes, but Jenny tries swaying her mother that extra-curricular activities are needed as much as lectures. However, Mrs. Wakeman gets too much carried away as she plans overnight, and thus brings Jenny into a lot of extra-curricular activites that get her too frightened, especially when one is a Prom Night with the groom being XJ-8. Jenny tries running away, but her mother catches up to her all the time, referencing a school lesson every place she went, even the moon. Finally, Jenny has enough and decides to enroll back into Tremorton High, her attitude changed. Later, Razinski calls Mrs. Wakeman on the job proposition for a substitute teacher.

  • The title is a reference to the famous Dorothy quote from Wizard of Oz, "There is no place like home".
  • Jenny's quote: "No more classrooms, no more books, no more teachers’ dirty looks!" is a reference to the hit Alice Cooper song "School's Out!"
  • This episode premiered on September 9, 2006 in Germany.[1]
